All of our clinical staff are Certified Sex Addiction Therapists (CSAT®), or Certified Partner Trauma Therapists (CPTT) through the Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). This training, developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes, requires attendance at multiple training modules and supervision with a CSAT®/CPTT supervisor. It also requires ongoing education requirements so that CSATs/CPTTs are experts in providing the latest innovations in sexual addiction therapy. CSAT®/CPTT training is a rigorous process designed to help professionals best serve their clients.

Tom Barbian

Dr. Barbian received his doctorate in clinical psychology from The Cambridge Graduate School of Psychology in Los Angeles. He also holds a master’s degree in marriage, family and child counseling, and a bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies. He began his work as a counselor in 1986, and has extensive counseling experience in private practice as well as in a church setting. He is the founder and current Executive Director of The Christian Counseling Center of First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina. Dr. Barbian has also been an adjunct professor at Columbia International University in Columbia South Carolina since 1999, where he teaches courses in Addiction, Crisis Counseling, Family Therapy, and Supervised Clinical Internship. In addition to his training in sexual addiction, Dr. Barbian has received specialized training in chemical dependency, anxiety disorders, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, child therapy and post-traumatic stress disorder. He has also been actively involved in church leadership for many years. Dr. Barbian and his wife Corrine have been married since 1978. They have five children and 7 grandchildren. Dr. Barbian is an avid cyclist, hunter, and water skier.
Todd Bowman

Dr. Todd Bowman is an Associate Professor of Counseling at Indiana Wesleyan University in addition as well as maintaining a private practice in the Kansas City area. Dr. Bowman received his doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Oklahoma State University in 2008 and has been practicing professional counseling since that time. During his time at OSU, he served as the Director of the Nazarene Student Center. Dr. Bowman developed the SATP program in 2011 at MidAmerica Nazarene University, and it remains the only sexual addiction training for mental health professionals that is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and recognized by the United States Department of Education. He continues to write and present locally, nationally and internationally on topics related to sexual health and sexually addictive behavior, including editing and contributing to a Christian textbook, Reclaiming Sexual Wholeness, that was published by Zondervan in 2022. His first book was Angry Birds & Killer Bees: Talking to Your Kids About Sex (Beacon Hill Press, 2013). He has completed the Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT) training and is also trained in providing psychological assessments. Dr. Bowman operates from a relational-existential perspective in his work, and regularly incorporates attachment, developmental, and neurobiological perspectives as appropriate.
Rainey Brown

Dr. Rainey Brown is a licensed professional counselor in private practice in Brentwood, Tennessee. She received her M.A. in counseling and a doctorate in clinical counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University. After working in the community mental health field, Rainey began private practice in the fall of 2003. Rainey holds the following clinical licensures and certifications: • Licensed Professional Counselor – Mental Health Service Provider, Tennessee • Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP) • EMDR Certification, Level 2 Rainey offers counseling services for adults and couples and is committed to encouraging healing and wholeness in spirit, mind and body. She has a heart for adults and couples who struggle with sexual issues, addictive sexual behavior and codependency. Rainey feels a strong call to support women as they address and work through relationship issues, career challenges, recovery from childhood trauma, divorce adjustment, and marital and family issues. Rainey has a passion for working with couples who wish to strengthen their marriage or seek assistance in working through marital struggles. Issues often addressed include intimacy, boundaries in marriage, communication, sexuality, and sexual addiction. She also offers premarital counseling. A strong believer in the importance of fellowship and community, Rainey and her husband, Doug, are active members in their church. On a quarterly basis, they teach a one-day premarital workshop and enjoy working with couples as they prepare for marriage. For several years they also facilitated a weekly Celebrate Recovery® 12-step group. Rainey and Doug reside in Brentwood, Tennessee, and are the parents of two married sons and proud grandparents.
Tim Burkholder

Tim Burkholder is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor working out of Orlando, FL. He stepped away from his work supporting missionaries with Cru (formerly Campus Crusade) to pursue his Masters degree in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. Since graduating, he has worked in private practice and completed his training as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. He also has training in EMDR. Tim is passionate about working with addicts on the road to recovery, and especially enjoys working with those in ministry. He also works with clients wrestling through other issues of gender and sexuality, as well as helping clients tackle important realities such as depression, anxiety, spiritual disillusionment, and relational difficulties. Personally, Tim enjoys supporting Orlando's MLS soccer team, riding his bicycle, and drinking a good cup of coffee. He is also mildly obsessed with almost anything DIY, and has spent several years building a teardrop camper trailer in his garage. He loves to travel, and hopes to one day have a finished trailer that will allow him to visit a number of state parks throughout Florida and the Southeast.
Amy Croft Radeck

Amy received a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Trinity International University after completing a master’s in counseling ministries from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. She is fully trained as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). Amy highly respects every person who attends Bethesda Workshops because she personally knows what it’s like to do the courageous work of counseling and recovery. An active member of 12 Step communities, Amy believes authentic, honest relationships are essential for deep healing and transformation. She incorporates 12 Step recovery principles, trauma recovery, and faith-based interventions in sessions and groups as appropriate - always mindful of her client’s perspectives and needs. In her spare time, Amy and her husband Jim enjoy selling antiques at Chicago-land flea markets and have a booth at an antiques mall in Oshkosh, WI. She also loves walking her dog or participating in anything that celebrates her Irish heritage.
Kim Iverson

Kim has over 38 years of clinical experience as a psychotherapist in the private practice arena, residential addiction industry and community mental health. She specializes in working with intimacy disorders, relational betrayal, love, relationship, and sex addiction. Kim has been intensively trained as a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT) through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). Kim also receiving training in experiential therapy and psychodrama at Onsite Workshops in Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee and is a Level Two Certified Experiential Therapist. She is also certified in the Marilyn Murray “Murray Method,” which is used to treat individuals with unresolved trauma, addictions and abuse. Most importantly, Kim’s own personal growth, recovery and development have helped her show up in the world not only as a better clinician, but as a better human. She believes at the heart of her work that everyone can heal and change when they let others walk beside them on their journey. Kim received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Louisville's Kent School of Social Work in 1985.  In addition to Kim's work at Bethesda Workshops, she facilitates regularly at Onsite Workshops. She has recently closed her private practice to provide more time for being with her husband and grandchildren. She loves the outdoors and enjoys running, hiking, and working out. Fitness is important to her so that she can keep up with her grandchildren! Being their “Mimmy” is the highlight of her life. She and Mark have been married since 1986 and have four married sons and five beautiful grandchildren. They love traveling and growing older together.

Kirk received his master's degree in marriage and family therapy from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a licensed professional counselor and has worked in multiple settings including an inpatient psychiatric hospital and an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. He has been in private practice in since 2003. Kirk is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). He is trained in EMDR and has advanced training in Christian sex therapy through the Institute for Sexual Wholeness.

Josh received his master's degree from the University of Connecticut and his bachelor's degree in psychology from Eastern Connecticut University and is a licensed clinical social worker. He has worked extensively with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings for over 20 years and currently maintains a private practice. As a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT), Josh has extensive training in the areas of trauma and addiction, and his practice focuses primarily on recovery from sexual addiction and trauma related disorders. Josh also serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work.
Josh and his wife Jaime have been married since 2000 and are the proud and grateful parents of four children. They live in Albany, New York.

Joe is a licensed marriage and family therapist and has earned the designation Certified Sex Addiction Therapist certification (CSAT). He is also a certified Sex Addiction Treatment Provider (SATP) and is trained in the LifeSTAR Recovery model for group therapy, PACT couples therapy model, and Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) for individuals. Joe specializes in working with sex addicts, partners of sex addicts, and couples. Before finishing a clinical degree in 2014, Joe worked in the rail transportation industry for 20+years. He is in practice in Westminister, CO and is also licensed in his home state of California.

Jason is a Licensed Professional Counselor(LPC) practicing in Columbia, SC. Jason holds a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. He is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). Jason’s therapeutic interests include working with individuals struggling with sexual addiction, betrayal trauma, substance abuse, families of addicts, relational issues, spiritual formation, crisis and trauma, as well as life and career transitions. Prior to counseling, Jason spent 13+ years working in various levels of leadership across the organization of a Fortune 150 insurance company. Jason obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, Management, and Finance from Valdosta State University. When Jason is not working with clients, he enjoys spending time with his family and community. He loves to catch one of the many live sporting events around town and enjoys playing golf as well as being outside. He is an active member of his local church where he has served in several different volunteer roles and participates in mission trips/activities.

Kathy is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Supervising Counselor for the State of Alabama, and a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. Kathy has 30 years of experience in the counseling field and is the president and owner of Building Hope Counseling in Huntsville, AL. Kathy received her undergraduate degree at Central Michigan University (1988) and her master's in counseling from Oakland University (1992). She began her career in Michigan working with teenagers and their families, young adults, and new members of the church. She also co-facilitated groups at a local high school. However, for almost 20 years Kathy has been working with sex addiction clients and betrayed partners. Kathy is trained as a supervising counselor for the state of Alabama, and she enjoys the process of developing excellent therapists through the supervision process. She loves to see lives transformed by the healing power of the gospel accompanied by solid clinical approaches.

Jason Van Ruler is the founder of Solomon Recovery, a counseling center specializing in the treatment of intimacy disorders including sex and pornography addiction as well as affair recovery. The center also helps clients who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, or in need of couples counseling. Jason has earned the designation Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). Jason is also the co-founder of Resolution Treatment Services, a clinical practice focused on providing forensic evaluations and outpatient treatment. He is a certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (SOTP) and a member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA). He earned a Master of Arts degree in marriage and family therapy from the University of South Dakota. Prior to working in the counseling field, Jason gained extensive business and consulting experience owning and managing companies in the staffing and recruiting industries. In his free time, Jason enjoys spending time with his wife and children as well as fly-fishing, traveling and biking.

Todd Clements is a psychiatrist who is board certified in addiction medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas and completed his psychiatry residency (as chief resident) at the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa. He has worked in a variety of medical settings with a special interest in addictive behaviors and teaches as university adjunct faculty. Todd’s personal experience with addiction and recovery informs his interest in Bethesda Workshops and fuels his commitment to those who seek healing for compulsive behavior. He is in practice in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Jim is a Nashville native who has been a licensed psychotherapist since 1980. He currently practices at AGAPE, where he also serves as Assistant Clinical Director. Jim has referred many clients to Bethesda Workshops over the years, and his deep respect for the life changing work done through this program led to his interest in serving on the board. He and his wife married in 1980 and are the parents of a young adult son. Jim enjoys reading, music, and exploring contemplative spirituality. He is also trained as a spiritual director.

Jennifer Honeycutt has worked in the legal field for over 25 years and is a member of the Tennessee Bar. She brings years of board experience, most notably with the Williamson County DUI Court Foundation, and serves as the chair of Bethesda Workshops’ board. She maintains a thriving general law practice in Nashville with a special focus on family law. Her experience in working with fractured families prompts her to support Bethesda Workshops’ mission to help individuals and couples find healing.

Ina received a B.S. in accounting from Florida State University and an MBA from the University of Tampa. She and her husband Scott have been married since college and have three teenagers. Ina and Scott have attended every type of workshop Bethesda offers, and as an alumni of the program, Ina is especially committed to the mission of Bethesda Workshops. Ina has served on various non-profit boards and is currently working as a full-time mom.
