Sexual addiction is a complex issue, but there is hope! Many of our clinical staff are trained Certified Sex Addiction Therapists (CSAT®) or CSAT® candidates through the Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (ITTAP). This training, developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes, requires attendance at multiple training modules and supervision with a CSAT® supervisor. It also requires ongoing education requirements so that CSATs are experts in providing the latest innovations in sexual addiction therapy. CSAT® training is a rigorous process designed to help professionals best serve their clients.

Theodore (Ted) Baldick,  Ph. D.
Small Group Therapist

Ted Baldick received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Rosemead Graduate School of Psychology. He is a senior clinical psychologist at Christian Psychological Center in Memphis, Tennessee, where he specializes in recovery issues associated with addictive diseases, men’s issues, and adult survivors of childhood trauma. Tom Barbian,  Ph. D.
Small Group Therapist

Dr. Barbian received his Doctorate in clinical psychology from The Cambridge Graduate School of Psychology in Los Angeles. He also holds a Masters Degree in marriage, family and child counseling, and a Bachelors Degree in Biblical studies. Rainey Brown is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice in Brentwood, Tennessee. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University. After working in the community mental health field, Rainey began private practice in the fall of 2003. Read more. →

Glynn has a private practice in Nashville and is licensed in the state of Tennessee as a Senior Psychological Examiner. He earned a master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University and has over 20 years of clinical experience with adults, children and adolescents in outpatient clinical settings. Read more. →
Tonia Long,  Ph. D., CSAT, EMDR

Dr. Tonia Long received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from University of Memphis, where her research focused on predictors of recovery from childhood sexual abuse. Dr. Long sees adults in individual therapy and group therapy, and specializes in recovery from childhood trauma such as abuse, abandonment and lack of attachment, as well as Post-traumatic Stress Disorder including victims of crime and traumatic loss. Kirk received his Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has worked in multiple settings including on the Master’s and Johnson’s Sexual Trauma/Compulsion Unit at River Oaks Hospital in New Orleans, an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center, and in private practice. Dolores (“Dee”) Parlato holds a master’s degree in counseling, as well as a Biblical Ministry Certificate, from Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina. She received her BA in Social Psychology from Park University, St. Louis, and served for 20 years in the United States Navy as a photojournalist until her retirement in 2003. Read more. →

Chris Pekary, MA, LPC-MHSP, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and National Certified Counselor. Chris grew up in Northern California, and has a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from Pepperdine University. He is a former software and hardware guy. He left the tech world to go to graduate school at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL, where he earned a Master of Arts in Counseling and a Master of Divinity. In his practice he focuses on adult individuals and couples. He received specialized training from Dr Patrick Carnes in working with male sex addicts, and couples recovering from sexual addiction. Chris has been married to his wife, Debbie, for more than 20 years, and they have two sons. He and Dr. Tonia Long share a practice in Memphis, TN, Life Matters Counseling, PLLC. Read more. →

Fern Sutton has a bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies from Dallas Baptist University and a masters in counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. Nicole is Bethesda’s Director of Workshop Operations, which means she’s the interface between clients and workshop staff. She manages Bethesda’s daily operations, talks with potential registrants and referring professionals, and oversees the administrative staff. Read more. →

Steve and Shane have gone through the Bethesda Workshops programs as participants, so they have their own personal recovery experience to assist them in relating with former and future attendees. Their new position is still being developed, and their first primary responsibility is to develop relationships with Bethesda Workshops alumni. Read more. →

Operations Assistant

Kate Dick is the newest addition to the Bethesda Workshops team.  She is the Operations Coordinator handling workshop registrations, paperwork, arrangements and other details. Kate is in the office Monday through Friday from 9:00 am-5:00 pm CST. Kate attended Montana State University and brings a strong background in health care administration.

Emily Husbands
Financial Coordinator

Emily Husbands is the administrative assistant who handles all Bethesda’s bookkeeping. She’s responsible for receiving all workshop payments, processing payment plans, and handling the ministry’s bills. Emily is in the office Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am-3:00 pm CST and is also a part-time student at Columbia State Community College. Emily and her husband Chase have been married since 2007 and have a young age daughter.
